Our Community

We are making waves together

At CAWST, our global impact is made possible by a vibrant community of Wavemakers. Across countries, sectors and roles, people are choosing to share knowledge, support one another and help create a world where everyone can access safe water, sanitation and hygiene.

Donors

Every gift helps turn knowledge into action. In 2025, 369 donors invested in a future where more people can access safe water.

Volunteers

Every hour shared creates a ripple. In 2025, 77 volunteers gave 2,288 hours to help move our mission forward.

Clients, training partners and collaborating organizations

More people gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) through our diverse network of clients, partners and collaborators than we could ever reach on our own.

Each organization is unique in their capacities and local context. The way we work with each organization is also unique, depending on their needs and our combined potential. CAWST acts as a hub of knowledge sharing and learning, sharing valuable perspectives gained from members of the network.

Clients

Our clients are organizations with the mandate to provide their communities with better WASH. They are all types and sizes, including small and large local and international organizations, governments, UN and multilateral agencies, and entrepreneurs. The kinds of services they provide are unique, and they vary widely by their topics of expertise, size and who they serve.

56% of organizations that reported taking action in 2025 are local. While each type plays an important role, local organizations are anchored in their communities, see the challenges first-hand, and are driven to create a better life for themselves and their communities.

In 2025, four of our clients delivered training to other organizations, either replicating CAWST’s workshops or replicating our model and approach, and sharing their results with us. This is an exciting progression for clients when their missions align with ours, with some on a pathway to becoming future training partners.

Training partners

Training partners do locally what we do globally. They provide training and consulting support services to their own clients, such as workshops, development of educational materials, and community visits. They also distribute our annual survey independently to their clients, as showcased in our collective impact.

We train and support people working for local organizations to deliver these services, with us and independently. They adapt our training and consulting services to their local context, reaching many more people in their country or region than we could alone.

Collaborating organizations

We collaborate with universities and research institutions to find solutions to common challenges and improve project implementation. We also work with organizations around the world to share knowledge and training materials, and to build awareness, supporting a global movement to make water safer.

One thing they all have in common is their dedication to safe water, sanitation and hygiene. Another is their connection to CAWST. Together, we reach more people, in more places, than ever before.
