One of CAWST's core strategies is to make knowledge about water common knowledge. This is achieved, in part, by developing and freely distributing education materials with the intent of increasing its availability to those who need it most.
All of CAWST's education materials are open content, including our posters, activities, workshop manuals and PowerPoint presentations. As we develop new materials, we will post them to the CAWST website for you to download for free.
Over the next year, we will be licensing these materials with the Creative Commons. The Creative Commons is a non-profit organization that provides open content licences. This type of licence protects CAWST's intellectual property while giving permission for anyone to copy, modify and distribute our education materials.
So what does this mean to you? Basically, you are free to copy, change, and share any of CAWST's open content educational materials to fit your needs. For example:
- Adding translated text to the picture posters
- Adapting the picture posters to fit the local context of your project
- Photocopying our manuals and giving them to others
- Using parts of our manuals and creating a new document
The only requirement is that you credit CAWST as the original source of the materials.
Our open content materials are not meant to replace training. We still encourage you to participate in CAWST workshops to gain a comprehensive, deeper understanding of the materials and their implementation.
CAWST will be adding to this page with other education materials on water, sanitation and hygiene.
Please share with us your open content education materials and we may publish them on this page for others to use.
