I was amazed by the partcipants’ enthusiasm for finding new techniques to teach people about the importance of clean water, good sanitation, and proper hygiene and their commitment to polish their training skills and immediately put the new information into action. I left the 5-day training workshop energized and excited to hear the direction these organizations would take after the workshop.
When I received an email from one of the participants last week, my eyes welled up with emotion. “On the water side, our new training is going really well! We've been showing the Prescription for Health video to our Water and Sanitation Representatives and loads of them have requested showings in their villages,” says Nicole Scott, Director of Partnerships and Training for Nuru International.
Nicole went on to explain, "Today, over 80 people crammed into a tiny church in Eliza's village to watch the video on a laptop. They loved it so much; they had us play it twice. It's really been impactful for people and they're realizing for the first time that their local sources are really dangerous (yeah! finally!). Thanks again for sharing that and all the other tools with us."
As a CAWST trainer, I’m one step removed from the action on the ground, so it’s feedback from the field that encourages me in the approach that we take at CAWST. The connection between water and health is fundamental to helping people make changes in their water, hygiene and sanitation practices. It is so rewarding to hear how people are making this connection in
