The Community Health Worker is essential for the successful implementation of any household water treatment, sanitation or hygiene program. This course will provide participants with the skills to effectively organize, train and supervise Community Health Workers as part of a new or existing program.
The workshop reviews the fundamentals of global water issues, water quality, disease transmission, household water treatment, hygiene and sanitation. The emphasis is placed on behaviour change, participatory learning, facilitation techniques, social marketing and communication, and training methods. Topics are covered in an interactive fashion using learning tools and activities the participants can then apply to train Community Health Workers.
