The Nepalese Ambassador to Canada, Dr. Bhoj Raj Ghimire visited the CAWST office as part of his 2-day stay in Calgary. This was the first visit of Nepalese Ambassador to Calgary. His Excellency was accompanied by members of the local Nepalese community during his visited and the group was treated to a full tour by CEO Camille Dow Baker, including a hands-on glimpse of the workshop area where Calgarians are taught to make biosand filters.Following the tour, our International Technical Advisor to South Asia, Mr. Betman Bhandari, presented an overview of the work CAWST is currently doing in Nepal, highlighting the improvement to many Nepalese citizen's health as a result of the WET (Water, Education and Training) Centre operating in Kathmandu.
Mr. Bhandari, when asked about His Excellency's visit to CAWST, said that he was "very impressed by the dissemination of affordable technology which has impacted 20 districts in Nepal". The Ambassador also appreciated how CAWST works with small organizations in Nepal and, in turn, supported many Nepalese entrepreneurs who were making significant impacts in the region. He returned to Ottawa inspired to continue to support the work of CAWST.
