Greta Raymond (Chair)

Greta Raymond is the former Vice-President, Environment, Safety and Social Responsibility for Petro-Canada. She was responsible for providing the resources, services and advice to ensure environment, safety and social responsibility capability in Petro-Canada supports successful delivery of business strategies. Ms. Raymond worked in applied research, the mining industry, and government prior to joining Petro-Canada in 1983 to start the company's industrial hygiene program. In addition to several roles in Environment, Health & Safety, Ms. Raymond has also worked in business planning and is the former Vice President of Human Resources at Petro-Canada.

Ms. Raymond has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology from Stanford University and a Master of Public Health degree in Environmental Health from the University of California at Berkeley. She has also attended the Executive Management Program at the University of Michigan. Ms. Raymond is a Liaison Delegate of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, an international coalition of 150 companies that provides business leadership as a catalyst for change toward sustainable development.

Shauna Curry (Secretary / President & CEO)

Shauna Curry is the President and CEO of CAWST. She has been integral to the successful development of global strategies and programs in Asia, Latin America and Africa. She provides technical and implementation support to clients and is the primary interface with CAWST's Education Program Development team, integrating best practices from the field into CAWST services. Shauna holds a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Bioresource Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan and has 10 years experience prior to CAWST in environmental engineering, project management and facilitation.


Ken Bagan


Ken Bagan is a lawyer and independent businessman whose career included President and CEO of Enerchem International Inc., President and CEO of Wellco Energy Services Inc., Sr. Vice President Service Operations with Tesco Corporation, General Counsel with Tesco Corporation and Nowsco Well Service Ltd. Ken is a director of Trican Well Service Inc. (TSX-TCW), HSE Integrated Inc. (TSX-HSL) and the Petroleum Services Association of Canada (PSAC).

Ken received a Bachelor of Physical Education from the University of Manitoba in 1972, a professional teaching diploma (PDAD) from the University of Alberta in 1973 and an LLB from the University of Calgary in 1989.


David Boone

David Boone is an oil & gas executive with over 30 years of Canadian and international experience in the upstream industry. He is President & CEO of Barrick Energy Inc., a subsidiary of Barrick Gold Corporation, the world's largest gold mining company.

Previously, David has held various positions including responsibility for Operations and New Ventures with Imperial Oil, Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of PanCanadian Energy and then President, Offshore and International Operations for EnCana. He went on to co-found Escavar Energy, a private oil & gas company, acting as President and Director. He also currently sits on the boards of Tundra Oil & Gas and WesternZagros Resources.

Fred Claridge

Fred Claridge is Director of Mining Projects at WorleyParsons Komex, the environmental engineering and water resources subsidiary of WorleyParsons, which operates around the world. He has recently transferred to WorleyParsons' European office based in London, England, but remains a CAWST Director. Prior to joining WorleyParsons, Fred was Director of International Operations for Komex International, which he co-founded in 1992.

During the past 35 years as a consulting engineer, Fred has engaged in a variety of water resource projects. These endeavors include the definition of large scale groundwater reserves in Yemen on behalf of the United Nations and Nexen Inc., and monitoring of the implementation of a regional water supply and sanitation project in Ethiopia on behalf of the Canadian International Development Agency.

For the past seven years, on behalf of the Zambian Government and the World Bank, he has engaged in the assessment and implementation of the "Copperbelt Environment Project," which includes a mandate to protect and improve the water supplies of populations that were impacted by decades of mining activities in Zambia. Fred is a professional engineer and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.

Shawn Cornett

Shawn Cornett has spent her career oil and gas but has split her time between operations and human resources.  She spent the first 10 years as a research scientist doing ice and environmental research for the Arctic drilling operations of Canmar (Canadian Marine Drilling), until a series of circumstances led her into training, first as a trainer, then HR Manager then Organization Development.  Subsequently, as GM, Talent Management at Nexen, she provided support across the global organization (Canada, US, UK and Yemen) in the area of People Strategy which is focused on attracting, developing and engaging people for business success.

Shawn has a MSC in Environmental Studies and a PhD in Human and Organization Development.

Shawn is currently an independent consultant and is also Chair of the Board for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary and a member of the Women’s Initiative of the United Way.


Camille Dow Baker

Camille Dow Baker is co-founder of CAWST and was the volunteer President and CEO for 10 years. She has more than thirty years experience as a professional engineer.

Prior to founding CAWST, Camille enjoyed a very successful twenty year career in the petroleum industry in various leadership positions at significant Canadian energy corporations. She left the oil and gas industry in 1998 to earn a graduate degree from the University of Calgary in environmental design, with a focus on water and sanitation in developing countries. CAWST was founded in 2001.

Camille has been President of the Board of Directors for the YWCA of Calgary, a long standing Calgary NGO, as well as a member of the board of the Alberta Oil Sands Technical Research Authority, a provincial government agency. She has been awarded an honourary Doctor of Laws degree honoris causa from the University of Calgary, and, an honourary Bachelor of Business Administration in Non-Profit Studies from Mount Royal University. She is also a recipient of the Alberta Centennial Medal, Global Woman of Vision Award, the National GRIOT Award for science and technology, and a Rotary Integrity Award.

Evan Hazell

Evan Hazell is a Managing Director within HSBC Global Investment Bank and is responsible for the Canadian upstream energy sector. He began his career in the oil and gas industry as an engineer in 1980. For the last 17 years, Evan has been an energy investment banker serving a wide variety of Canadian and international clients.

Jonathan Moser

Jonathan Moser is a senior leader with extensive experience in bilingual communications and external relations who has facilitated success working for a diversity of clients in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. He currently runs his own consultancy, assisting clients throughout Canada.

Prior to this role, Jonathan was the Manager of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Dow Chemical Canada ULC.  He was responsible for interactions with all levels of government in Canada, acting as the main liaison with business and trade organizations. He served as chief advisor to the President of Dow Canada and was the sustainability lead for Dow Canada's sponsorship of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Jonathan has also worked as a Communications Advisor for the Calgary Police Service and had significant public sector experience working as a Senior Political Advisor to federal Ministers in such portfolios as health, public works and government services and regional economic development. Jonathan served as a Senior Advisor in the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada. He has also worked as a consultant for a government relations firm, advising senior business executives.

Chris Read

Chris Read is a highly experienced corporate executive in the financial arena. He recently worked two years as the Chief Financial Officer of a TSX-listed technology and logistics company, and is the former Vice-President, Corporate Development, and Vice-President, Treasury Services and Risk Management, of Nova Chemicals Corporation. Prior to these roles, he filled various Vice-Presidential positions for Nova Corporation in Finance, Treasury and Commercial Banking, Corporate Strategy and New Business Development.

CAWST benefits greatly from his experience and skills in financial management, which include a significant amount of capital market transactions, directing divisional accounting and information systems functions, and developing business banking relationships, foreign exchange policies and investor relations strategies. In addition, his experience in international project development and mergers and acquisitions provides CAWST with a significant advantage in the planning of our global strategy.

Bill Redmond

Bill Redmond is currently the President of a number of privately held companies involved in the Recreation Vehicle industry. He serves on the board of these companies as well as the board of the Calgary Rotary Clubs Foundation. He previously held executive positions and served on the boards of both public and private companies in the oil and gas industry and as a member and chair of the boards of industry associations, government agencies and not for profit organizations.

Bill has been a member of The Rotary Club of Calgary for over 20 years and as President in 2005 he was instrumental in forging the relationship between Rotary and CAWST.

Cathy Ryan

Cathy Ryan has been a faculty member of the University of Calgary , cross-appointed to the BSc Environmental Science Program and Geoscience Department, since 1997.  Ryan’s research program on water quality issues in groundwater and surface water related to agriculture, sewage, and industrial activities Is funded by national and provincial agencies, in addition to municipal and private sources.

Ryan’s work with watershed groups and other NGOs garnered her a number of awards, including the City of Calgary’s ‘Individual Environmental Achievement’ Award (2007), the University of Calgary’s Faculty Association’s ‘Inspired Community Service’ Award (2008), and the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Science’s ‘Community Outreach Award’ (2011).

As part of her ongoing work with the Central American Water Resource Management Network (caragua.org) since 1998, Cathy has instructed short courses and collaborated with researchers in various countries.


Roger Smith

Roger Smith is the former Vice President of Prospect Generation Services for Suncor Energy. He has served as a Board Member of the Calgary General Hospital, Chairman of the Hospital's Foundation, Honourary Chairman of the Association of Directors of Volunteer Resources and is currently Chairman of the Geology Council for Queen's University.

Valerie Yankey-Wayne

Valerie Yankey-Wayne is presently an advisor on armed violence and arms control to the United Nations Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery. She was formerly a researcher and policy analyst on armed violence with
the United Nations. She has worked on a range of international and regional projects for Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Europe.

Valerie has also worked extensively with civil society organizations on security and development projects in Africa. She has been involved in a variety of advisory roles on issues such as conflict management and arms control to governmental agencies, academic institutions and civil society groups. With her background, Valerie brings a rare perspective on the relationship between water, conflict and international development.

Ora Zabloski

Ora Zabloski has a passion for people and for leading efforts to achieve maximum community impact. She is a Managing Director and founding principal with the Amkor Group, an international strategy firm resolving governance and leadership challenges in partnership with board and executive leadership teams. She acts as an advisor to coporations in both the public and private sectors. Prior to her work with the Amkor Group, Ora has previously served in executive roles with Cell-Loc Inc, FutureLink Distribution Corporation, Nova Corporation, the University of Calgary and the Foothills Hospital. Prior to locating in Calgary, Ora enjoyed a successful public service career in community health with the Manitoba government.

Ora is an extraordinary community volunteer, serving over the years on the board of the Calgary YWCA, as a founding member and director of the Prairie Action Foundation, the Action Committee on Violence, and the President's Advisory Committee at the University of Calgary. In addition, she has functioned as an Alberta Representative (Alumni) for the Governor General's Leadership Program, coordinating the 2004 Alberta Tour and chairing the 2008 Alberta Tour. She serves on the board of Infotech Alberta and is an advisor to Governance Global Inc.
