Greta Raymond (Chair)
Greta Raymond is the former Vice-President, Environment, Safety and Social Responsibility for Petro-Canada. She was responsible for providing the resources, services and advice to ensure environment, safety and social responsibility capability in Petro-Canada supports successful delivery of business strategies. Ms. Raymond worked in applied research, the mining industry, and government prior to joining Petro-Canada in 1983 to start the company's industrial hygiene program. In addition to several roles in Environment, Health & Safety, Ms. Raymond has also worked in business planning and is the former Vice President of Human Resources at Petro-Canada.
Ms. Raymond has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology from Stanford University and a Master of Public Health degree in Environmental Health from the University of California at Berkeley. She has also attended the Executive Management Program at the University of Michigan. Ms. Raymond is a Liaison Delegate of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, an international coalition of 150 companies that provides business leadership as a catalyst for change toward sustainable development.
Camille Dow Baker (Secretary / President & CEO)
Camille Dow Baker is co-founder of CAWST as well as its (volunteer) President & CEO. She has more than 25 years experience as a professional engineer and executive in the oil and gas industry internationally. Influenced heavily by her socially minded children, Camille left the oil and gas sector to go to the University of Calgary, where she earned her graduate degree in environmental design, focusing on water and sanitation in developing countries.
Prior to this, Camille was Manager of Engineering and Operations at AEC International (now EnCana) and enjoyed a very successful career in various managerial and leadership positions at Norcen Energy Resources Limited and Conwest Exploration Company Limited. She led several international projects in Australia, Peru, Egypt, Trinidad and Tobago and Zimbabwe.
Camille is the former President of the Board of Directors for the YWCA of Calgary and is a recipient of the Alberta Centennial Medal, Global Woman of Vision Award and the National GRIOT Award for science and technology.
Chris Read (Treasurer)
Chris Read is a highly experienced corporate executive in the financial arena. He recently worked two years as the Chief Financial Officer of a TSX-listed technology and logistics company, and is the former Vice-President, Corporate Development, and Vice-President, Treasury Services and Risk Management, of Nova Chemicals Corporation. Prior to these roles, he filled various Vice-Presidential positions for Nova Corporation in Finance, Treasury and Commercial Banking, Corporate Strategy and New Business Development.
CAWST benefits greatly from his experience and skills in financial management, which include a significant amount of capital market transactions, directing divisional accounting and information systems functions, and developing business banking relationships, foreign exchange policies and investor relations strategies. In addition, his experience in international project development and mergers and acquisitions provides CAWST with a significant advantage in the planning of our global strategy.
Fred Claridge
Fred Claridge is Director of Mining Projects at WorleyParsons Komex, the environmental engineering and water resources subsidiary of WorleyParsons, which operates around the world. He has recently transferred to WorleyParsons' European office based in London, England, but remains a CAWST Director. Prior to joining WorleyParsons, Fred was Director of International Operations for Komex International, which he co-founded in 1992.
During the past 35 years as a consulting engineer, Fred has engaged in a variety of water resource projects. These endeavors include the definition of large scale groundwater reserves in Yemen on behalf of the United Nations and Nexen Inc., and monitoring of the implementation of a regional water supply and sanitation project in Ethiopia on behalf of the Canadian International Development Agency.
For the past seven years, on behalf of the Zambian Government and the World Bank, he has engaged in the assessment and implementation of the "Copperbelt Environment Project," which includes a mandate to protect and improve the water supplies of populations that were impacted by decades of mining activities in Zambia. Fred is a professional engineer and Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum.
Bruce Fenwick
Bruce Fenwick is Executive Director of the Ernest C. Manning Awards Foundation and a retired oil and gas executive. He served as a Senior Vice-President with Norcen Energy and Vice- President of Petro-Canada, plus a number of other companies and boards. As a Rotarian, Bruce has helped to foster a growing relationship between the Rotary Club of Calgary and CAWST. Bruce is a longtime volunteer with an education focus, was a Governor and Vice-Chair of Mount Royal College, a member of the Conference Board of Canada Corporate Council on Education and has fostered business-education partnerships and stay-in-school scholarships.
Bruce has an M.Sc. from Dalhousie, a B.Sc. from Mount Allison University, an Honorary Bachelor of Small Business and Entrepreneurship from Mount Royal College, a Meritorious Service Award from the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists, an Alberta Centennial Medal, a Jaycees International Senatorship and is a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
Hal Hamilton
Hal Hamilton is the President of Redlog Technology Ventures Ltd. He has over 30 years experience in the environmental business sector, including being CEO of Golder Associates, a multi-national engineering and sciences consulting firm. Most recently Hal was the founder and President of Verdant Energy Ltd, a renewable power company. He is an environmental scientist by training.
Evan Hazell
Evan Hazell is a Managing Director within HSBC Global Investment Bank and is responsible for the Canadian upstream energy sector. He began his career in the oil and gas industry as an engineer in 1980. For the last 17 years, Evan has been an energy investment banker serving a wide variety of Canadian and international clients.
Eric Holden
Eric Holden is a partner with the Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP law firm and his legal practice deals with all aspects of employment and labour law. Eric is the former National Leader of Gowlings' Employment and Labour Law Practice Group. He has a B.Ed. from McGill University, a B.A. from Dalhousie University and a Law degree from the University of Windsor. Eric is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Calgary Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. In addition, he has authored numerous papers dealing with employment law and is a regular speaker at seminars for the legal profession and business groups.
Mike Quinn
Mike Quinn was in the investment management industry for 25 years, retiring in 2005. Most of his career was at Bissett Investment Management, where he was President from 2002 until his retirement. Mike is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a past-president of the the Calgary Society of Financial Analysts. In addition to serving on the board of CAWST, Mike is a member of the Corporation of Bishop's University, his alma mater, and the Independent Review Committee of Mawer Mutual Funds.
Roger Smith
Roger Smith is the former Vice President of Prospect Generation Services for Suncor Energy. He has served as a Board Member of the Calgary General Hospital, Chairman of the Hospital's Foundation, Honourary Chairman of the Association of Directors of Volunteer Resources and is currently Chairman of the Geology Council for Queen's University.
Laura Tupper
Laura Tupper is currently Senior Vice-President with Hill & Knowlton Canada, a strategy and government relations firm, based in Ottawa. Prior to that, she was Senior Vice-President with GPC Canada, a government policy consulting firm, where she lead the Natural Resources and Environment Practices group. She has also served other senior posts and engineering positions with Environment Canada, Suncor, Dome Petroleum and other oil and gas firms.
Bill Warden
Bill Warden has many decades of international experience. He was admitted to the Foreign Service in 1961 and served in Ottawa, as well as in the Soviet Union (1963-66) and Cuba (1968-72). In 1977 Mr. Warden was named Commissioner for Canada to Hong Kong and Consul General to Macao. From 1981-83, he served as Ambassador to Pakistan, following which he was named High Commissioner to India and Ambassador to Nepal (1983-86). Mr. Warden was appointed Executive Director of the International Centre of the University of Calgary in 1988, a post which he held until retiring in 1998.
Mr. Warden is originally from Niagara Falls, Ontario. He attended the Universities of Western Ontario, Glasgow, Tennessee, and the Free University of Berlin. Mr. Warden was Vice-Chair of Protocol for the 1988 Olympics and served as Special Envoy for the Canada 2005 Exposition bid. Since 1990, he has been appointed to some 20 election observation missions for the Organisation of American States and the Commonwealth Secretariat. He has served on various not-for-profit boards, including Operation Eyesight Universal, the University of Calgary-Gorbachev Foundation Joint Trust Fund, and the Canadian Institute for Petroleum Industry Development. From January-July 2002, Mr. Warden headed up the University of Calgary Office for G8 Activities.
Roy Wright
Roy Wright is an urban and regional planner with more than 30 years experience in Canada and United States in local and regional levels of government. He has led or been a senior team member of numerous complex planning projects, including expansion of the Calgary Stampede, temporary housing shelters and special events including Expo and Olympic bids. For the past eight years he has run his own consulting practice, specializing in economic development, expert witness testimony, facilities planning (ie: Stampede development), and downtown/neighbourhood revitalization.
Roy has volunteered all of his adult life for a wide variety of organizations at the leadership level. His previous board experiences range from a non-profit daycare organization, professional planning organizations at the provincial and national levels, the YMCA and civic boards including sewer authorities and planning commissions. Roy holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Victoria and a graduate degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Toronto.
Valerie Yankey-Wayne
Valerie Yankey-Wayne is presently an advisor on armed violence and arms control to the United Nations Bureau for Crisis Prevention and Recovery. She was formerly a researcher and policy analyst on armed violence with
the United Nations. She has worked on a range of international and regional projects for Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Europe.
Valerie has also worked extensively with civil society organizations on security and development projects in Africa. She has been involved in a variety of advisory roles on issues such as conflict management and arms control to governmental agencies, academic institutions and civil society groups. With her background, Valerie brings a rare perspective on the relationship between water, conflict and international development.
Ora Zabloski
Ora Zabloski has a passion for people and for leading efforts to achieve maximum community impact. She is a Managing Director and founding principal with the Amkor Group, an international strategy firm resolving governance and leadership challenges in partnership with board and executive leadership teams. She acts as an advisor to coporations in both the public and private sectors. Prior to her work with the Amkor Group, Ora has previously served in executive roles with Cell-Loc Inc, FutureLink Distribution Corporation, Nova Corporation, the University of Calgary and the Foothills Hospital. Prior to locating in Calgary, Ora enjoyed a successful public service career in community health with the Manitoba government.
Ora is an extraordinary community volunteer, serving over the years on the board of the Calgary YWCA, as a founding member and director of the Prairie Action Foundation, the Action Committee on Violence, and the President's Advisory Committee at the University of Calgary. In addition, she has functioned as an Alberta Representative (Alumni) for the Governor General's Leadership Program, coordinating the 2004 Alberta Tour and chairing the 2008 Alberta Tour. She serves on the board of Infotech Alberta and is an advisor to Governance Global Inc.
